Akhenaten tried to unite his people under one God, the Aten. This inspired king of Egypt introduced the Aten as a symbol of the Creative Force in the universe, a God having no physical image. A solar disk, which projected many downward rays ending in human hands or Ankhs, served as a representation of the one God worthy of worship. You can make this pattern into a reversible bag that uses only seven colors of Delicas, and has Aten's Disk on one side and a reproduction of a 16th dynasty Ankh on the other. An alternate application would be to bead it as a small tapestry. The pattern includes graphs with symbols, material list, color legend, and two word charts-one for beading the piece as flat peyote, and the other for beading it as tubular peyote. Easy to bead for those who know peyote, this is a beginner's project. The strap and fringe for the bag is your choice; instructions for neither of these are included. Gail Devoid beaded this pattern, and tested the colors. The photograph below shows the reverse side of the bag with the dahlia, as well as the designer's ideas for the strap and the fringe.
This one will be great for the seashore trip you're planning. This is another reversible amulet bag with a hammerhead shark on one side and the "Jaws" shark on the other. Seaweed waves in the currents, while starfish dot the ocean floor. Done in several shades of blue, this amulet bag looks lovely here with the seashells bead fairy Tammy Uren added to the fringe.
The instructions detail how to make the bag or, alternately,
you can also work this pattern into a small tapestry. The design uses one-drop
peyote, but if you prefer brickstitch or Comanche stitch, you can turn the
graph on its side and do it your way. Simple to do, the pattern uses fifteen
colors. The instructions include large graphs with symbols, and two different
word maps, one map for flat peyote and the other map for tubular peyote, as
well as a material list and color legend. Suggested bead size is 11/0 Delicas
Instructions include how to start the tubular peyote, and tips for starting
the peyote project. Use of the word map for tubular peyote eliminates the
need to sew the sides of the bag together, but that still remains your option.
Instructions do not include directions for strap or fringe, so that is your
choice.
This amulet bag will become a summer favorite, or a treasure for your next visit perhaps to the Caribbean. An eye-catcher for sure, you will enjoy watching the sea scene come alive as you bead.
The bag is shown here beaded with Delicas and embellished with shells. Another design suggestion: Imagine this one with pearls!
Bag measures 3.19 inches by 2.56 inches, and flat piece measures 3.19
inches X 5.12 inches.

Jennifer Halverson offered to bead this pattern as the bead fairy and test the
colors. The picture shown here has Jenni's design for the strap and the fringe.

The same pattern done by the designer, Gail Devoid, has the maiden looking in the other direction. This piece, shown below, has different design elements for the strap and fringe.
This necklace uses a bead crochet stitch and one type of bead: Miyuki 8/0. Crocheting slipstitch, you can make a beautiful necklace that has a short jabot, and a sterling silver clasp, after adding these accents to the bead crochet tube. The stitch for the jabot is herringbone, and modified herringbone; therefore, a basic understanding of the herringbone stitch is needed to make the jabot. However, instructions include step-by-step pictures for bead crochet and constructing the jabot.
If you have trouble starting bead crochet tubes, these directions include an easy method of starting the tube. Also included are instructions for starting the slipstitch chain and connecting it into a circle. Length of the necklace shown is 24 1/2 inch, excluding the clasp, which adds another 1 1/4 inch to the length. Overall length of the necklace is 25 3/4 inches.
The pattern has eleven pages to print.

For the advanced bead crochet artist, this pattern employs several sizes of beads and techniques to make the necklace. The instructions include bead counts and bead weights of the various size beads this necklace employs, as well as mokume gane polymer clay instructions for the focal bead. Nineteen pages of illustrated instructions show how to bead around the cabochon and create the netting, which attaches to the necklace permanently. This pattern creates a comfortable necklace, and you can substitute a stone cabochon for the polymer clay one in the pattern if you know how to adjust your beading around the cabochon.

Several beaders have a difficult time learning how to bead slip-stitch crochet tubes. This pattern helps the beginner learn how to start the tube. Additionally, doing an invisible join presents another hurdle that discourages trying to learn. This pattern also gives step-by-step directions for finishing a tube with beadcaps.
A rudimentary knowledge of simple wire-wrapping techniques, such as making a simple loop, and a wrapped loop are necessary, as well as an understanding of simple crochet techniques, such as starting a slip-stitch chain and joining it into a round. However, successfully using these bead crochet tubes for bracelets, necklace, earrings, and pull tabs is within reach by following the instructions and the numerous pictures of the steps to take.
The picture is of an example of one possibility using these techniques. The pattern does not include instructions for making the necklace, only the techniques for starting and finishing a bead crochet tube with beadcaps. Instructions include a material list.

A basic understanding of wire-working techniques is needed to make this pair of earrings although instructions for creating the double wire-wrapped loop for the briolette are included.
Also included are vendor sources for some of the harder to find components, such as the chandelier finding. The length of the earrings is 4 1/4" (10.7 cm) long, including the French wire. The chandelier finding is 1/2" (1.1 cm) wide X 1 1/16 inch (2.6 cm) long.

With this pattern you can make either a bracelet or an adjustable watchband. The instructions show you how to do an invisible join if you want a roll-on bracelet, or you can use the directions to make a bracelet with a clasp and toggle. Alternatively, you can use the pattern to make a watch band. Instructions include everything you need to make this adjustable watch. The pattern uses crystal silver-lined Delica beads, light blue seed pearls, white rice pearls and blue Miyuki drops, and a watch face of your choice. You need to know basic slip-stitch crochet, and simple wire-working techniques. Instructions include a source for the correct sized seed pearls.
The directions also give steps for eliminating voids from your word map using MS Word, and format the word map so that it becomes easy to read. These directions are specifically for The Bead Cellar designing software and MS Word.
The instructions have a small pattern with which to test and learn, as shown below. The method outlined can be used to create tubes of any size, however.
Both beginners and experienced users of The Bead Cellar software will find these instructions helpful.

DB Bead is a piece of freeware developed by Damian Brunold to help beaders create bead crochet patterns. This tutorial explains how to use the output from the DB Bead program, as well as explaining the free pattern. Here is a link to the DB Bead Design Software program.
These instructions explain the output of the DB Bead Design software program, how to read the graphs, and how to create a Word Map. Although the software is mainly written for bead crochet designs, the graphs created can also be used for peyote, brickstitch, looming, square stitch, and tubular peyote, tubular square stitch, and tubular brickstitch.
Make your own beaded bails to go with your designs instead of buying them! Can't find a bail to match the color of your beads? This is the solution.
Instructions are complete and accompanied by several photographs. The instructions assume you know nothing about beading and are complete enough for any beader, no matter what experience level.
If you want to learn ladder stitch, or brickstitch, these instructions will get you there. And if you have any questions, you have my contact information included with the pattern.
This bail has a wonderful texture, and adds a great design detail to your work.
